Founded in 2015, Parrsboro Creative revitalized Parrsboro as a cultural destination and creative hub after its slow decline since the thriving shipbuilding era. With this cultural economy and a robust population of artists established, Parrsboro Creative now seeks to support the creative community through opportunities for commerce and lifelong learning. Parrsboro Creative hosts the largest plein air painting festival in Canada and is the main facilitator of the Cultural Campus, running courses with affiliate organizations as well as events and exhibits for local, regional, national and international artists across all artistic disciplines. Parrsboro Creative operates year-round with the fundamental focus on: - Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival, drawing the best of North America’s plein air painters to the Minas Basin and Bay of Fundy. - Cultural Campus offering a curriculum in a unique range of cultural disciplines from fine art and craft to music, theatre and writing.
