Maidan Market, established in May 2022 with the support of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Ottawa Branch, is a community hub assisting newcomers from Ukraine in settling and integrating into Ottawa. With the closure of its settlement services effective July 4, Maidan Market will continue to offer English language courses at its new location on 911 Carling Avenue, Ukrainian Community Center. The initiative has been made possible through the generous support of RioCan and Royal Moving & Storage.
At Maidan Market, newcomers can access a range of services, including a Welcome & Information Centre where they can seek guidance from the Settlement Coordinator, interact with the community, and utilize resources such as a computer room. The Learning Centre provides opportunities for language learning, resume writing, interview skills, and arts and crafts classes for children, among other activities.
Additionally, Maidan Market offers life-coaching sessions to facilitate newcomers' transition into Canada, along with opportunities for volunteering to support community projects. The organization expresses gratitude to its stakeholders, clients, volunteers, and supporters for their contributions, emphasizing the significant impact they have had on the community.
