Upon deciding that my career as a bank marketing director was not satisfying enough anymore, I opened Decadent Dogs. I took well-known mythographer Joseph Campbell's advice to "follow your bliss." Obviously, my dogs are my bliss. Only having K-9 kids, I wanted to spoil them like any mother would their children. I opened Decadent Dogs to provide the kinds of upscale dog products and the boutique environment that would attract other K-9 moms like me. Since opening in 1999, Decadent Dogs has established a reputation for the best products and customer service in the dog world. Decadent Dogs has been featured in Lake Magazine as Best Pet Accessories Store, as well as ; the City Dog series of books, The Purple Book " the definitive guide to exceptional online shopping, Arizona Foothills magazine, the Shoreline Visitor's Guide, the Kalamazoo Gazette, the Herald-Palladium, and the South Haven Tribune, among many others. We work hard to provide you and your K-9 kids a fun, yet helpful experience. Custom orders are always welcome and we will work diligently to fulfill all your doggie dreams. I am a member of the Al-Van Humane Society's board of directors, the current vice president and a past president. While I love and care for my own dogs, I realize that not all puppies and dogs are as lucky. Literally millions of unwanted animals are euthanized annually in this country. Everywhere you go ; there are more homeless animals than available homes. The staff of Decadent Dogs has arranged to help locally by taking in an Al-Van shelter dog everyday and making it our mission to find it a loving new home and family. Decadent Dogs is a great place to meet a potential new member of your family. The relaxed atmosphere allows dogs to be seen and for potential families and any other animals they already have to meet in non-threatening, more natural surroundings. Potential families are welcome to sit on the store's comfy leather couch, play with the dog, go for a walk and judge whether they think the dog will fit into their lives. Those interested in adopting go through an interview process right at the store, and if approved, can take home a dog that was desperately in need of a new home and some loving attention. It's our way of giving back to the animals that have given us so much love.
