Drummond mines, purchases, processes and sells coal and coal derivatives. The company produces primarily low-sulfur, or compliance, coal. Its ABC Coke division, which the company purchased in the early 1980s, each year produces more than 750,000 tons of saleable coal for use in the automotive and construction pipe industries. The company s other acquisitions have included Perry Supply, a mining and foundry supply business. Drummond also maintains several land and forestry management operations, as well as real estate developments in Florida, California and Alabama. Drummond was founded in by entrepreneur H.E. Drummond in 1935. The company has headquarters in Birmingham, Ala., and manufacturing facilities in Colombia.
