HistoryIn 1952, the plastics industry was in its infancy. Plastics certainly weren't available at the retail level. Art Whitehead and Gilbert Taylor decided to change that. They opened Taylor and Art Plastics in downtown Oakland and were determined to make plastics available to the people. Since then, we have expanded to 20 west coast stores. The name was changed from Taylor and Art to TAP Plastics in memory of the two founders. Their vision still guides us as we make the world of plastics accessible to the do-it-yourselfer's, artists, and inventors, as well as contractors and businesses.
