Calle Mayor Middle School is one of eight middle schools in the Torrance Unified School District with an enrollment of more than 770 students. The school offers academic and extracurricular programs to children in grades six through eight. It is a California Distinguished School, an award given by the California State Board of Education and a National Blue Ribbon School. Calle Mayor Middle School opened in 1958 and became a middle school in 1973. The school, located in Torrance, Calif., is built on more than 12-acres and serves the southwest area of Torrance. Calle Mayor Middle School has more than 45 permanent classrooms, including a reference center, computer laboratories, music room, and two science laboratories. Its curriculum includes English, language arts, mathematics, history, social science and science.
