Operational since 1988, Gilroy Cogeneration Plant is a gas-fired cogeneration facility that has a base load capacity of more than 115 megawatt. It offers electric power generation services. The plant is operated by Calpine, which owns, leases and operates low-carbon, natural gas-fired and renewable geothermal power plants. Founded in 1984, Calpine operates over 60 plants that deliver nearly 24,000 megawatt of fuel-efficient electricity in approximately 15 states throughout the United States. It employs a work force of over 2,000 employees. The company provides physical liquidation and financial optimization services for energy assets. It additionally offers power marketing, logistics, and risk and energy management consulting services. The company s generating facilities are affiliated with the Voluntary Protection Program, which is administered by the Department of Labor's Division Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
