History
The Northern California Baptist convention wanted to start a church in Rio Linda, With the assistance of the First Baptist Church of Sacramento and the Sacramento area Baptist Union, a church was organized. The first service was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.K. Hack on Jan. 20, 1952 The First Church of Sacramento bought the lot on which our church stands. The convention loaned us a metal Butler Building, which was moved to Rio Linda from Fruitridge. The building was just a metal shell, but it was put in condition to use and a shed was built on the back for toilets. The floor was plywood, which bounced up and down when you walked across it. When we got ready to build, we borrowed $18,000 from the convention. When the Sunday School unit was finished, we borrowed $15,000 more. So with a $33,000 loan, many donations and a lot of volunteer labor, we built the church.
