Established in 1977, Peninsula Open Space Trust works to give permanent protection to the beauty, character and diversity of the San Francisco Peninsula and Santa Cruz Mountain range in California. It encourages the use of lands for natural resource protection, wildlife habitat, low-intensity public recreation and agriculture. The organization has saved more than 55,000 acres of land and is accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. It also works in collaboration with the California Coastal Conservancy California Department of Fish and Game California State Parks, California Wildlife Conservation Board, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, National Park Service/Golden Gate and National Recreation Area. Peninsula Open Space Trust is headquartered in Palo Alto, Calif.
