People of Color In Independent Schools of Northern California (POCIS) is dedicated to supporting the academic achievement, professional development, and well-being of students, families, and adults of color in PK-12 Bay Area schools. They advocate for equity, inclusion, multiculturalism, and social justice as essential components of quality education for all.
Founded by local independent school educators in response to the 1995 NAIS People of Color Conference, POCIS organizes events, conferences, and networking opportunities for members to connect with diversity allies, access valuable resources, and contribute to building a more inclusive educational community in the Bay Area.
