History
Welcome to the private psychiatric practice of Dr. Shawn Hersevoort. The goal of the practice is to deliver both quality and individually tailored treatment in a flexible, accessible, and affordable way. Dr. Hersevoort practices general adult psychiatry in San Francisco, California. He also provides consultation for patients in a variety of other treatment settings. In his private practice, the doctor provides evaluations, medications, and psychotherapy to individuals. The treatment approach is primarily psychodynamic, using a biopsychosocial model to evaluate and understand patient difficulties. Depending on the circumstances and the nature of the difficulties each patient will benefit from a different treatment plan based on their individual needs. Psychiatric difficulties can range from primarily biological to fundamentally psychological with very different treatments shown to be effective. These interventions may include medications, psychotherapy, both, or neither.
