The Garden by Equal Play opened its doors to working families in August of 2018. Equal Play's pilot project is The Garden, a coworking space for parents in San Mateo, California. The Garden provides fully equipped, amenity-rich office space plus nurturing, compassionate childcare in the same building. Parents who choose The Garden are able to work intensely, ambitiously, and free of distraction, but they're also able to pause in their work to nurse, pump, rest, or have lunch with their children. Combining childcare and workspace in the same building also eliminates one of the seminal headaches in the life of the working parent: battling traffic between daycare drop-off and a busy morning. This consolidated experience has significant social and environmental impacts on users, their families, and the community: workers have increased productivity and more time with children. Children have happier days, feeling more connected with their parents and receiving excellent care.
