HistoryThe Handpiece Surgeon was founded by John Dowdy in 2003. After spending most of his career designing, building and maintaining various types of equipment from heat pipes to planar magnetron sputtering roll coaters, he found himself looking to start his own business. Dental handpiece repair seemed to be just the right niche. A quick course on handpiece repair got the business started with basics, followed by various training events with handpiece manufacturers, and parts suppliers and finally thousands of hours repairing. We service mostly local dentists, but our website brings in mail order business from all over the country and in a few cases other countries as well. In 2007 the Handpiece Surgeon expanded into the training field and now offers one of the most comprehensive training programs for people interested in starting their own repair business.
