The Sheridan Opera House was built in 1913 by J.A. Segerberg as a vaudeville theater and cultural center for the town of Telluride. In the early 1990s, the SOH was in jeopardy of commercial development; but was saved from demolition by the creation of the Sheridan Arts Foundation and restoration efforts taken on by The Colorado Historic Society. Today, the SAF continues to work as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization to: -Restore and preserve the historic Sheridan Opera House as an arts and cultural resource for the local communities -Bring quality arts and cultural events to Telluride -Provide local and national youth with access and exposure to the arts through education Today, the SOH continues to serve as a beautiful theater with a variety of configurations allowing it to host events of all types from movies to concerts, recitals, lectures.
