American Eagle is among the largest federal credit union in Connecticut with more than 110,000 members and nearly $785 million in assets. Smith, a Pratt & Whitney Aircraft s Employment Manager, and 14 fellow employees founded American Eagle Federal Credit Union in 1935. They brought East Hartford Aircraft Federal Credit Union to Pratt & Whitney to serve the credit needs of its employees. In 1996, East Hartford Aircraft Federal Credit Union changed its name to American Eagle Federal Credit Union. The credit union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration.
