Formed in 1981, the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department provides fire suppression and rescue services to the city of New Fairfield, Conn. It offers mitigation of and recovery from a variety of conditions that adversely threaten the safety of the public. The department is comprised of a staff of volunteers. Its primary operations consist of confining and extinguishing various types of fires. As an extension of the department s rescue services, it also provides pre-hospital, emergency medical care. In addition, it performs on-site safety inspections of buildings to ensure structures meet safety codes and participates in campaigns for community awareness regarding fire safety.
