ACCION International was founded in 1961 to address poverty in Latin America's cities. The organization is one of the premier financial organizations in the world, with a network of lending partners that spans Latin America, the United States and Africa. It provides small loans and business training to poor women and men to start their own businesses. ACCION International was awarded the 2006 Social Capitalist Award by Fast Company magazine and the Monitor Group for a third consecutive year. The organization offers specialized microfinance credit technology, field staff training, internal credit processes and back office operations, strategic business planning and projection models, information technology solutions and human resources training.
