The Volusia County Sheriff s Office is a law enforcement agency that works towards preservation of peace and detection and prevention of crime. It also provides services for protection of residents and their property. The sheriff s office employs a staff of more than 1,300 sworn officers, civilians and volunteers. The Volusia County Sheriff s Office operates various specialized units, including narcotics, auto theft, crime analysis, intelligence, major case and juvenile investigations. In addition, the sheriff s office maintains sex crimes, victims advocate, traffic, aviation, bomb disposal, elder crime, equestrian, dive teams, K-9, marine and homeland security units. Located in Daytona Beach, Fla., the Volusia County Sheriff s Office also has a support service division that offers services for communications, evidence, fleet management, information systems and training.
