SpecialtiesAlliance Hospice is a full service, in-home hospice care provider with service offices in Augusta, Georgia and North Augusta, South Carolina, headquartered in Ambler, Pennsylvania. Alliance's mission is to provide hospice and palliative (symptom-relieving) care for all patients needing hospice services. Hospice care is end-of-life care for terminally ill patients with a life expectancy of six months or less. The emphasis is on treatment that will improve the patient's quality of life (palliative care) rather than on curative care. The goal of hospice care is neither to hasten nor prolong the natural course of the patient's disease; it is to improve the quality of life during the patient's last few months. Patients are typically treated in-home. A team of physicians, nurses, counselors, and other professionals work with both the patient and the patient's family to provide services that are tailored to the patient's needs. As well as providing palliative medical treatment, such as pain relief, the hospice team provides emotional and spiritual support for the patients and their families.
