Built almost half a century ago, the Caribu Apartments on Sylvan Rd. sit between a dry cleaning business and an auto repair shop. And within walking distance are several eateries, a day care and snack shops.
Still, many residents stick close to home. A walk around the property with its 166 units, find residents sitting on their balconies talking on the phone, conversing with neighbors or simply soaking in the fresh air.
The apartment's brown buildings crown neatly cut lawns and shapely shrubberies. On the inside there are black staircases draped with floral designs that lead to the residents units; and each unit has one, two or three bedrooms and range in sizes from 800 to 1040 square feet.
