Claxton Middle School provides learning experiences for students in grades six through eight. It conducts classes in language arts, science, social studies and math. The school has a counseling department that assists in the development of intellectual, social, physical and academic skills in children. It offers the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. Claxton Middle School operates a library and media center that provides a collection of books. It offers an accelerated reader program that is used to monitor and guide reading practices and help students in improving reading abilities. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Georgia Accrediting Commission. It is governed by the Evans County Schools, which operates through student services, curriculum and special education departments.
