History
This store was started in 1982 by Kim Lloyd. As the former Director of the Suncoast Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (Clearwater Florida), he was frustrated by the lack of appropriate hardware that would improve the performances of his drumline. He designed, and began manufacturing shoulder mounted drum carrier-Competitive Music Inc. Great Southern Percussion was created in 1990, marketing percussion products servicing the southeast United States. After moving to northwest Georgia in 1990, and three years of doing business, it became apparent that a full service music store was needed in the rapidly growing Cartersville community. That was when Great Southern Music was born. In 1993, we became a family oriented music store with lessons in all instruments, instrument repair and band instrument rental as well as combo shop, and sound system installations.
