Rowland Elementary, founded in 1967, is a family-oriented school that has deep roots in its community. Some of Rowland's first pupils are still actively involved in the school because their children attended, and now their grandchildren are pupils there.
The school takes part in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl, a county contest in which children are tested on their knowledge of a selection of books. Rowland also takes part in an academic bowl.
The school offers afternoon tutorials and an after-school program that includes homework assistance, educational games, arts and crafts.
