Specialties
I'm currently offering phone calls or virtual consultations. In Hawaii, DUI is known as Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant (OVUII). OVUII occupies a special place in the practice of criminal law. OVUII defense combines aspects of criminal and civil law. Experience counts! A criminal defense attorney has a wide variety of tools at his disposal. For example, crucial evidence can sometimes be suppressed for police violations of your Fourth Amendment rights (search and seizure issues) or your Fifth Amendment rights (Miranda and interrogation issues). Additional protections include your right to a speedy trial and, in some cases, your right to trial by jury. Ultimately, the defense attorney's duty is to hold the government to its burden of proof. You were driving the other day, minding your own business, when you noticed the flashing blue and red lights in your mirror. You pulled over and tried to offer an explanation to the police officer but he wouldn't listen and gave you a citation instead. If this has happened to you, you can fight back! You can use the court system to try to win your case or reduce the penalties. I can handle Excessive Speeding cases, where the penalties include jail, community service, and a license suspension.
