In 1905, two years after the Wright brothers powered flight, the Bodine brothers, Carl and Paul, produced their first electric motor for a dental drill manufacturer. Today Bodine Electric Company creates fractional horsepower motor, gearmotor and controls requirements for AC, DC or Brushless DC. The company sells its products in the United States, Canada, Mexico and international markets in Asia and Europe. Bodine Electric Company has recently created a new business endeavor, Bodine Gear Manufacturing. This division manufactures bore or flat gears, pinions, assemblies, shafts, separable worms, integral worms, wormgears and splines. Still family owned, Bodine Electric is headquartered in Chicago with an additional manufacturing facility in Peosta, Iowa.
