SpecialtiesFounded in 1971 by a group of concerned parents who felt an alternative community program for adults with disabilities was necessary, Careers Industries was first located in a farmhouse on County Line Road that had been donated. It was patterned after The Lambs in northern Illinois and served six people. These people sold crafts they made as they learned to use looms and to latch hook and silkscreen. The organization provides services for nearly 250 people with developmental disabilities in an environment that promotes diversity, innovation, excellence and self-determination.
