Sunny Johnson, NP - Beacon Medical Group Urology Elkhart
About Sunny “Marie” Johnson A career in medicine was always something Sunny “Marie” Johnson, NP, wanted to pursue. When her husband was diagnosed with brain cancer she decided on the path of nursing. “The nurses and NPs that helped to care for my husband were amazing and left a lasting impression on me,” Marie says. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner Track at Goshen College, Goshen, IN. Marie has hospital experience in oncology care and general medical care. The field of urology interested her because she had a close family member who dealt with kidney stones for more than 25 years. In addition, Marie researched prostate cancer during her master’s program work. In her role, Marie examines and diagnoses patients and provides education on what it all means, and then follows them through their treatment plan. She hopes her patients learn that with proactive care, they can lead better lives. “The more you can help a patient understand their diagnosis, the higher likelihood they will be compliant to their treatment plan,” Marie says.
