Children International is a nonprofit humanitarian organization that helps the children, their families and communities living in poverty. Its child sponsorship program unites children in need with individual sponsors who help through monthly contributions in their most basic needs, such as medical and dental care, nutritional assistance, educational support and youth programs. Its various projects, such as latrine building, clean-water initiatives and income-generation programs help families live healthier and happier lives. It provides safe, sturdy homes for impoverished families who suffer in substandard housing and for victims of natural disasters, such as hurricanes and fires. Its sponsorship program benefits more than 300,000 impoverished children and their families in more than 10 countries throughout the world, including Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Mexico, the Philippines, the United States and Zambia.
