Founded in 1980, Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles is a local affiliate of the national organization, Physicians for Social Responsibility. Based in Los Angeles, Calif., it is a physician and health advocate membership organization, working to protect public health from nuclear threats and environmental toxins. The organization informs the medical community and policymakers about toxic threats, promotes safer practices and strengthens the local community organizations to engage in meaningful public health and environmental advocacy. Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles represents over 5,000 physicians, health professionals and residents in Southern California.
