Founded in 2003, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard offers a range of medical research services. It discovers the molecular basis of various human diseases, as well as defines molecular components of life. The institute also disseminates discoveries, tools, methods and data for the scientific community. The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard works in collaboration with private and public institutions in more than 40 countries throughout the world. The institute administers cancer, genome biology and cell circuits programs. It conducts research for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychiatric and infectious diseases. The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard operates the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research.
