The Norwood Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that prevents crime, protects residents lives and their property, suppresses criminal activity, and apprehends and prosecutes offenders. It operates a communication center that responds to calls and provides emergency police, fire and medical services. The Norwood Police Department also maintains a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. In addition, the department offers services for cases related to false alarms, noise checks, code enforcement, vehicle registration, fingerprinting, concealed weapon permits, and traffic and parking law enforcement. Located in Norwood, Mass., the Norwood Police Department is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
