Friends of the Rouge is located on the campus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn in the school's Environmental Interpretive Center. The group is dedicated to preservation and cleanliness of the Rouge River, and accomplishes this through regular volunteer clean-up efforts, environmental testing of the area and use of grants.
A nonprofit organization, Friends of the Rouge also encourages education and discussion about wildlife habitats and why environmental preservation is crucial.
