Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs was founded in a converted 1,000-square-foot hamburger shop into a carryout and delivery pizzeria. The company continues to grow as a franchise system and is a major competitor in the pizza and sub market. Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs is one of the nation s largest pizza franchise operations. The company ended the 1980s with more than 160 franchise units in its system. In 1995, Hungry Howie s opened its 300th location and later opened Hungry Howie s Distribution. The company offers a variety of foods, such as flavored crust and thin crust pizzas, calzone-style subs, salads, hot and spicy Howie wings, garlic Howie Bread and 3-Cheeser Bread.
