Micron Mfg. was founded by Ed Preston, my Dad, in 1952. Returning home from his service in World War II he quickly developed a passion for precision machining and he built the business on creating long term relationships based on trust and service and not simply "satisfying the customer" . This philosophy and culture continues to this day.We're thrilled that 2010 has been a comeback year for Micron thanks to our customers re-growing their business and the addition of some new customers as well.How you ask? By receiving the prestigious Shingo Silver Medallion Award, the "Nobel Prize of Manufacturing" and sharing our experiences with anyone who knocks on the door. We often provide plant tours or speak at conferences to like thinking companies. Our story has been printed in many publications and on the web. When we do this we gain far more than we have given. We want to play our part in Governor Rick Snyder's plan to "reinvent Michigan" and we believe eliminating waste is the key to reinventing Micron.Customers want help not static so part of our expertise includes machining complex parts, various materials, prototypes for production and quick response when you need help in the thick of the battle. We will help you put out the fire with high tech CNC's and support with CMM and Optical Vision System capabilities.
