Hiding out on the third floor of St. Louis Park's Bremer Bank building is Nikos Design, a small fine jewelry store and custom design shop. The company's longtime owner, Greg, — who is also the shop's designer, goldsmith and diamond specialist — says the philosophy of Nikos Designs is to pass savings onto the customer. By keeping a low overhead in his small shop, he is able to sell jewelry for lower prices than larger retailers, he says. In many cases, sizing and minor repairs can be done while customers wait at Nikos. The jeweler also imports diamonds and gems directly from cutters, buying at a lower price to pass the savings on.
