Capitol Security, a division of Minnesota State Patrol, provides a range of safety and security services to executive, judicial and legislative officials. It is a primary responder to various emergencies and events. The division has an executive protection unit that is responsible for the protection of governors and their families. Capitol Security also maintains a staff of more than 35 individuals. It works towards the protection of buildings in Minnesota. The division additionally operates a bike patrol unit. Capitol Security offers crime prevention, automatic external defibrillation and bomb search and recognition solutions. It also maintains an operations center that is responsible for the operation of state buildings.
