The MOREnet is a research and education network that provides Internet connectivity, technical support, videoconferencing services and training to Missouri's schools, colleges, universities, public libraries, health care, state government and other affiliated organizations. It also offers additional services, such as access to online reference resources, opportunities to converse with colleagues and, security education and assistance. Established in 1991 and based in Columbia, Mo., the MOREnet operates as a unit within the University of Missouri. It participates in national leadership functions in educational technology organizations, including the Consortium of School Networks. The MOREnet also publishes a newsletter and operates an Internet2 sponsored educational group program that handles multimedia applications and collaborative projects.
