Established in 1879, the U.S. Geological Survey is one of the largest biological science and civilian mapping agencies in the United States. Located in Las Vegas, Nev., the agency collects, monitors, analyzes and provides scientific understanding about natural resource conditions, issues and problems. It also offers impartial information on health of ecosystems and environment, natural resources and impact of climate/land use. The U.S. Geological Survey specializes in large-scale, multidisciplinary investigations and provides impartial scientific information to resource managers and planners.
