Founded in 1963, the Seacoast Mental Health Center is a private, nonprofit agency governed by a volunteer board of directors. It provides psychiatry, counseling and psychological services to people of all ages. The center also offers therapies and support services, such as case management, vocational, and community and home-based services. It operates the New Heights program for teens between the ages of 12 to 18. The program offers an after-school teen center, adventure trips, recreational activities, a five-week summer program, sports camps, art and music activities, community service, gardening and cooking clubs. Located in Portsmouth and Exeter, N.H., the Seacoast Mental Health Center also offers full-time internships to qualified students enrolled in predoctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology.
