Ann Street School is an educational center, located in Newark, N.J., that serves more than 1,200 students in prekindergarten through grade eight. Founded in 1895, it offers various academic courses and programs, including world languages, arts, world history, mathematics and science. It has a Weather Lab program for students in grade four that includes meteorology learning classes. The program includes usage of weather maps and satellite imagery. The school s Signals of Spring program is funded by a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and enables students to use Earth data imagery to understand the spring migratory patterns of animals as tracked by satellites. Its health and physical education program includes AIDS awareness and drug prevention components, family living and health safety guidelines, and intramural and after school recreation sports programs. Ann Street School is approved as a Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education.
