Established in 1963, the Manchester Township Police Department is a law enforcement agency that issues auto releases, accident reports, alarm permits, and firearm permits and releases. It maintains a patrol division that conducts patrol, responds to calls and provides traffic management services. The department also has a records division that manages and processes department reports, requests, firearm permits, registrations and identification documents. The Manchester Township Police Department supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the use of illegal drugs, membership in gangs and violent behavior. In addition, it has an emergency management division that coordinates the emergency response activities of the municipal and volunteer entities to ensure protection of life and property in extreme emergencies.
