Founded in 1978, Vietnam Veterans of America is a national Vietnam veteran's organization. Located in Silver Spring, Md., the organization has over 50,000 individual members, 46 state councils and 630 local chapters. It conducts special programs, such as advocacy of issues important to veterans, seek access to quality health care for veterans, identifying disabling injuries and illnesses incurred during military service, holding government agencies accountable for laws mandating veterans health care and creating a positive public perception of Vietnam veterans.
