Hudson Valley Animal Rescue Sanctuary (HVARS) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable veterinary care and wildlife rehabilitation services in Poughkeepsie, NY. They started as a mobile hospital in 2011, offering low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinics, and have since expanded to a stationary hospital that provides a wide range of veterinary services, including surgeries, dentals, x-rays, and bloodwork.
With a team of licensed wildlife rehabilitators, HVARS also takes in and cares for orphaned, injured, and misplaced wildlife, such as squirrels, raccoons, possums, skunks, fawn, fox, and woodchucks. All proceeds from their clinic services go towards supporting the animals they rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt out, as well as the hundreds of wildlife they assist each year. HVARS operates by appointment only and is committed to serving the community seven days a week.
