History
Orange County Trust opened in 1892 on North Street in Middletown, N.Y., founded by 14 citizens who saw a need for a bank which would feature trust and estate services, as well as traditional banking services. In 1933, the Bank's stockholders put up double the value of their stock in order to keep the Bank solvent and its doors open throughout the Great Depression. As the community grew, additional space was needed to expand services to its customers. Thus, a second branch was opened in the Town of Wallkill (in 97', it was replaced by the Trust Way Branch). In 69', the Dolson branch opened. Later, in 91', this modest branch was replaced by a much larger 3-story building. In 99', offices were moved from North Street to this location to make it the bank's headquarters. In 95', the Bank extended its footprint into Montgomery. The bank continued to expand, establishing branches in Vails Gate, Chester, Goshen, Newburgh, and Fishkill.
