Seqouya Middle School is one of four middle schools in the Sachem Central School District, and is the byproduct of the split that occured in 2004-05. Located in Holtsville, the school serves students in grades 6 - 8.
Principal Panasci says, "The Sequoya community is one which prioritizes education and citizenship. Our school provides meaningful academic and extracurricular opportunities. Our focus for the 2009-10 school year will continue to include improved comprehension with the various curricula and enhanced achievement with state assessments. Overall, student achievement on the most recent state assessments was noteworthy and unprecedented. Our Math Assessment scores in particular were at the top of the county. This growth was a testament to both the commitment by the students and the preparation by their teachers. As we look to improve achievement, we will continue to offer students a well-rounded education with lessons in civics and opportunities for service to our community. The growth of our students as responsible citizens is a hallmark of Sequoya and the school community."
