Independence of Portage County is a nonprofit organization that has been serving individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities since 1975. The organization offers a variety of residential and support services to more than 100 adult individuals residing in its communities. It provides nursing services, physical therapy, psychological treatment, occupational therapy, psychiatric treatment, socialization skills, recreational activities and speech therapy. The organization offers supported living services 24 hours a day that include teaching of daily living skills, financial skills, accessing community resources and learning about recreational activities offered within the community. It receives grants from an affiliated unit, the Independence Foundation. Independence of Portage County is located in Ravenna, Ohio.
