Rural Electricity Resource Council (RERC), formerly known as National Food and Energy Council, is an organization based in Wilmington, Ohio. Over its 50-year history, RERC has provided valuable training, publications, and value-added services to rural power suppliers and allied organizations. However, due to financial challenges and the retirement of its executive manager, RERC has made the difficult decision to dissolve the organization. The Council is currently in the process of closing down in a responsible manner, while its board members continue to monitor funds and complete necessary paperwork.
After the closure of RERC, individuals interested in purchasing publications previously offered by the organization, such as the Agricultural Wiring Handbook and Practical Irrigation Wiring, can still do so through the consulting group launched by RERC's semi-retired manager, Richard Hiatt. Additionally, Hiatt will provide assistance on projects and training that promote Electric Learning through his website, ElecLearning.org. As RERC's operations wind down, Hiatt's consulting group will gradually expand its offerings, providing continued support to rural power suppliers.
