Yasir Abu-Omar, MD, PhD, is a cardiac surgeon at University Hospitals Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute, where he serves as the Surgical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Center and the Russ and Connie Lincoln Chair in Cardiovascular Innovation. Dr. Abu-Omar’s special interests include complex heart valve surgery, minimally invasive heart valve surgery, aortic valve surgery, coronary artery bypass operations and surgery for heart failure. Specialized skills include performing ventricular assist device (VAD) implantations, Bi-VAD implants, heart and lung transplantations, as well as surgery for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and pulmonary endarterectomy in patients with chronic pulmonary artery occlusions.
