History of Welty Building Company Our roots run deep in Northeast Ohio. In 1945, a former Industrial Arts teacher from Cuyahoga Falls named Henry Welty founded the company to build fine homes. In 1969 Henry D. Welty Company became Henry D. Welty & Son, when Jerry Welty joined the firm. After Henry retired, Jerry steered the company in a new direction , commercial buildings. Early successes and an obvious commitment to quality led to larger, higher-profile projects. Again we had outgrown our name ; we became known as Welty Building Corporation. Jerry Welty formed a partnership with Don Taylor in 1996, re-christening it Welty Building Company Ltd Don took over as President and CEO in 1998, with Jerry remaining as Chairman. It's humbling to look back on how far we've come in just a little over 60 years. We've grown not by focusing on ourselves, but by making sure... that today your project is on track... that we're applying the lessons we learned yesterday... that the client's priorities are setting our target for tomorrow.
