OMSI, also known as the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, has been operational for more than 65 years. Based in Portland, Ore., it is a scientific, educational, and cultural resource center. A nonprofit organization, OMSI organizes a wide variety of exhibitions, programs and events pertaining to science and technology. A national tourist attraction and educational resource, the museum features a more than 200,000-square-foot facility comprising over 10 exhibition halls, laboratories and demonstration spaces. It also features OMNIMAX Theater, a planetarium, United States Ship Blueback, a submarine and temporary display units. Additionally, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry provides camps, classes and outreach programs on a wide variety of topics, including tornados, fossils and natural disasters.
